President Donald Trump has said on Sunday that he may be involved in the deal that is going on between Netflix as well as Warner Brothers. The acquisition of Warner Bros. by Netflix was announced last week with a deal of $82.7 million.
On Sunday, when asked if the deal should be able to go through, he responded, “Well, that’s the question. They have a very big market share," he said, referring to Netflix. “And when they have Warner Brothers, you know, that share goes up a lot."

"So, I don’t know, that’s going to be for some economists to tell,” Trump continued, per CNBC. “I’ll be involved in that decision too.” Trump then said of Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos, “He’s done one of the greatest jobs in the history of movies and other things, and he’s got a lot of interesting things happening, aside from what you’re talking about."

Trump added that the big market share that would then be owned by Netflix could "be a problem." At the same time, Paramount has made an aggressive bid from Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD). In addition to the sale, WDB has planned a spin-off of Discovery Global, which includes the channels of TNT Sports, CNN, and the Discovery Channel.

There have also been other lawmakers that sounded the alarm over anti-trust law violations. On Friday, a Trump administration official said the White House is viewing the deal with "heavy skepticism."

A press release from Saturday from Netflix said of the deal, "Today, Netflix, Inc. (the Company) and Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc. (WBD) announced they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Netflix will acquire Warner Bros., including its film and television studios, HBO Max and HBO."
