Man who violated woman's privacy in LA gym locker room previously convicted of violently beating his wife—then he took her first name

A man who invaded women's locker room space at an LA gym, exposing himself and saying that he was transgender, has been revealed to have been convicted of beating his then-wife before he took her first name for his own. Alexis Black, formerly Grant Freeman, pleaded guilty in Ohio in 2022 to beating Alexis Freeman, who is now his ex-wife.

During the beating, he gave her a compound fractured jaw as well as other injuries. He was charged with a 3rd degree felony and was sentenced to a year in prison, minus time served. Court documents from Hamilton County, Ohio, read that "Kyle Grant Freeman caused serious physical harm to the victim. The victim suffered a compound fractured mandible, which resulted in her needing surgery."

Black has faced other charges as well, from drug trafficking to resisting arrest, per arrest records. "Surprise!" Said Meghan Murphy on X. "The man in the women’s locker room at Gold’s Gym is a convicted felon who did time for domestic violence. This is what I’ve been saying for years: any man who would go into the women’s change room, locker room, bathroom, whatever is a predator. That’s the red flag. Trans activism is first and foremost a movement to protect and enable predatorial men and perverts."

Black confronted LA singer Tish Hyman after she objected to him watching her while she was naked in the locker room. Hyman's membership was terminated after her complaint. "Today he saw me walk into the women’s room, followed me in and called me a b*tch. I ran out into the locker room crying and screaming. This is why we can’t be quiet because people need to know what’s happening. Thank you to the men who helped me today," Hyman posted on Sunday.

In a follow-up post, she said, "Gold's Gym terminated my membership after the MAN was escorted out by police. Then had me escorted out by officers afterwards. It was EMBARRASSING! I left but not before making sure everyone KNEW that they were allowing MEN in the locker room !!!!!"

Speaking to TMZ, Black said "this is the way that I was since I was 8 years old," and said that he had been taking female hormones since February. Black's ID, he said, classifies him as female. He said that he told Hyman these things in an effort to prove that he was a woman. "I'm registered as a female with the gym, so," Black told TMZ.

Hyman, however, was angry that there were "grown men, with big d*cks, in the women's locker room!" She said that Black had seen her naked without her permission and she was horrified by it. Black encountered Hyman three or four times at gyms around LA, including when he was naked except for a towel. He told TMZ that he had not removed his genitals but that he's had electrolysis.  

Black accused Hyman of "fearmongering" and that other women have "comforted" him during confrontations with Hyman because she was so "aggressive." He told TMZ that "this had to happen in order for people to learn about trans. We're here. We've been here for thousands of years. There's like ten species of animals on earth that do this too, just by the way everybody."

As for whether or not he believes he has the right to be in women's bathrooms, he said, "am I entitled to it, I know that I am a woman." He also touted his "self-feminine power."
