Katie Miller engaged in a heated exchange with CNN host Abby Phillip after criticizing Phillip for condemning Tucker Carlson’s interview with Nick Fuentes while platforming left-wing guests who have used extreme rhetoric of their own.

The exchange occurred Friday on CNN NewsNight after commentator Bakari Sellers brought up Fuentes’ appearance on Carlson’s show. Sellers described Fuentes as “misogynistic” and “antisemitic” but admitted he “has the pulse of the Republican base right now.”

Phillip criticized Carlson for giving Fuentes a platform. Miller pushed back, pointing to Phillip’s past interviews with podcast host Jennifer Welch, who has labeled Miller’s husband, Stephen Miller, a “white supremacist” and a “Nazi Jew.”

“You had Jennifer Welch on your show very often, and you never pushed back,” Miller said. “She called my husband a white nationalist – that is no different than Nick Fuentes going on Tucker Carlson’s show.”

Phillip seemed unable to understand the comparison, saying, “Wait, hold on. How is it similar? It’s not remotely similar at all. Nick Fuentes sits around and says that he likes Hitler. How is that similar?”

“It’s not different, Abby, it’s not,” Miller responded.

Phillip responded that she would not host someone who expressed admiration for Adolf Hitler, arguing the situations were not comparable. She asked Miller whether Welch was “allowed to say something negative about your husband.”

“The same way Nick Fuentes has the right to say what he wants to say,” Miller replied. “No difference.” She further explained Phillip that as the moderator, it is her job to “push back.”

“It’s the same way you’re asking Tucker Carlson to push back on Nick Fuentes,” she explained.

Phillip insisted the comparison was flawed, saying Fuentes isn’t “describing someone else as a Nazi, he is saying: ‘I admire Nazis.’” She asked Miller, “You don’t think that’s a different thing?”

Miller maintained that it was an “equitable comparison.”
